![]() ![]() If you had looked up the train timetable, you would have noticed that the train you were planning to take made more stops than the one you came in on. It is never wise to make assumptions, or at least to act on these without checking them out. Basically your mistake was to make a number of assumptions about timing (e.g. General recommendation is to be at the airport 3 hours before a non-Schengen flight, and I would have said that was unlikely to be possible leaving anywhere but the station itself 3h40 before flight time. We got to the gate about 15 minutes prior to boarding. Then once we finally got to MXP, it took a long time to get to the United check-in counter, through the line, through security, through the customs line and to concourse B (this alone was a 20-minute walk or more). The one going back to the airport was something like double that, with many more stops along the way. ![]() The train on the way in from Milano Centrale was fairly fast, about 40 minutes or so. We made it to Milano Centrale and then just barely made it on the 7:25a train (the next one was at 7:55). Our flight time was 10:40am and we had a cab pick us up at 7am. ![]() We were staying in the central downtown district. I apologize if this has been written about before, but the way out took quite a long time and I just wanted to caution others doing the same thing to give themselves PLENTY of time if flying out of MXP via the train from Milano Centrale.
